Brief History: Tina's car started life as a bone stock green 1990
G60 Corrado. This didn't last long as we painted the car VW silver arrow,
added Borbet Type B wheels, suspension and turboed the original g60 motor
back in 2001. It served its purpose for a couple years until we decided
it needed some more power. A semi budget 16vT was built for it in early
2003. Untuned and still running digifant I it layed down 267.9whp shutting
it down at 6250rpm due to a stock fuel pump and fresh engine. Shortly
after the stock fuelpump gave out and caused 3 melted pistons. A new motor
was built and boost was kept low as this was Tina's daily driver. In late
2004 boosteddubs decided to take the car to a new level. The goal of this
car is to have a somewhat stock looking Corrado from the outside, with
a strong/solid powerplant, while retaining all creature comforts (full
leather, AC, heat, stereo, etc). For 2007 the car has dynoed at 435whp/375wtq
with a major boost/vac leak found only after the dyno session. We have
fixed, retuned, and will dyno again soon. Best 1/4 mile to date is an
11.476@128.11mph at Gainesville Raceway on 10/13/07.
10/13/07 Update: We recently installed a different 02A transmission in which we modified the syncros (removed extra teeth for better high rpm shifting), installed a 4.24 final drive, VR6 gearing, and DG sigma 5 short shifter on an 02J shift tower. Along with this we also installed a new clutch, modified clutch fork and SS clutch slave line. We finished breaking in the clutch a couple hours before hitting the track and went to it. Our first pull of the night was with the boost controller off to get a feel for the new gearing/shifter/clutch. This netted a 12.2 at 116. The next 4 runs we started working on our launch and dialing in gear based boost with the new trans. Shifting is much better now. Our next run netted an 11.757 @ 125.52. Then an 11.597@126.63, followed by our best run to date an 11.476@128.11. For the final run of the night we had to hot lap it and ran an 11.499@127.78. Temps were in the low 80s when we arrived at the track dropping down to low 70s when we left. We'll put the latest videos up very shortly.

09/05/07 Update: We recently dynoed the car on a dynapack at 435whp/375wtq and then again on a dynojet at 425whp. Both sessions we were maxing out the newly installed Delphi 1000cc injectors and didn't know why. After the dyno session we discovered a 1/4 vac port on the intake manifold which had become un-capped, so we were dealing with a major vac/boost leak. We've fixed this, retuned the fuel map, are running approx 65-70% duty cycle on the injectors, and hit the track. On the 3rd run we netted an 11.7 @ 120mph. Next run we netted an 11.564@124.29mph. Our best run to date. We went back to the track on 09/05/07 and had some major misfires again, which we are dealing with now. Once this is resolved we are fairly confident we can hit high 10s :). We still haven't tried the track tranny (4.24 final drive). With the street transmission we are finishing the 1/4 in 3rd gear. The 3.389 makes it a bit hard to get out of the hole with the 24.5s on, but we want to see how far we can take the 3.389 before going to the 4.24. We'll keep you all posted and thanks for the support.
